Bajaj Auto has decided to expand its global footprint by setting up a new manufacturing plant in Manaus, Brazil.

Recently, the makers announced that they had decided to begin manufacturing in Brazil by inaugurating a new production facility. Earlier, they had been selling some of the motorcycle parts around the country.

With this new plant in Brazil, Bajaj Auto has expanded its global production to more than 100 countries across the world. The production unit was inaugurated in the presence of the governor of the Amazon state, other dignitaries, dealers, and business partners. Initially, the new production unit will focus on sourcing, assembling, and testing the Dominor bikes.

With their new production plant in Manaus, Brazil, Bajaj Auto will be selling its vehicles in more than 100 countries. According to Hindustan Times, the Manaus production facility has an area of 9,600 square metres and a production capacity of 20,000 units per year on a single-shift basis.

The unit is equipped with facilities like engine assembly, vehicle assembly, and testing facilities. The construction work on this unit started last year, and it is expected that the whole plant will be fully functional within one year. The automakers have constructed this production facility with a plan to increase the production of vehicles from 20,000 units to 50,000 units in the coming year.

The Manaus facility centre has achieved ISO certification for its production processes. Bajaj Auto’s Brazilian subsidiary, Bajaj do Brasil, has already successfully integrated local suppliers and has also started sourcing key motorcycle parts and components from within Manaus and other parts of Brazil.

The Manaus manufacturing centre has been designed in such a way that it will include production facilities like automated production lines and integrated quality control systems. These machines will also have multiple conveyor and transfer systems connecting various stages of manufacturing. With an initial aim to focus just on the production of Dominor Bikes, Bajaj Auto will later expand its production lines to other series like Pulsar.

Talking about Bajaj Auto in India, the automakers are currently working on the launch of the world’s first CNG-powered bike. The company is planning to launch the CNG bike on July 5 in India.
