BMW India is all set to launch the new 5-series tomorrow, on 29th June, 2017. The BMW 5-series borrows most of its design cues from the 7-series, including all the gadgets and will be manufactured locally in India.
BMW has already started the production of the new 5-Series in its Chennai based manufacturing facility. Talking about the looks first, the BMW 5-series looks more or less like the new 7-series and comes with all-LED headlamps, active kidney grille, and LED taillamps.BMW starts local manufacturing of new 5-Series!
Inside the cabin of the new 5-series will be a host of new features, again borrowed from the 7-series, like the fancy gesture control, new touchscreen infotainment and the rear tablet to control the functions. You can expect the self-parking feature on the new 5-series too.
As for the engine options, the 5-Series will get one petrol engine, and two diesel engine options. First is the BMW 530i with 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine having an 252PS and 380 Nm output. Next is the BMW 520d with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged unit with 190PS and 400 Nm output. Last is the BMW 530d with a 3.0-litre, in-line six-cylinder turbocharged unit with 265PS and 620 Nm output.
All engines are paired with BMW's quick shifting 8-speed ZF gearbox, that sends power to the rear wheels.
