Central Railway’s has launched an initiative to make doctors available 24*7 to aid the sick passengers on trains. Under this initiative, a doctor will be available on call.
How to call the doctor
In case of illness during the train journey, passengers can now call the doctor from the train at the next station by using RailMadad App or by contacting the Train Conductor/ Travel Ticket Examiner or Train Manager.
How to get medical facility
A message is sent through Rail Madad App or train conductor/TTE/train manager to the duty station manager of the next station. A team of doctors and paramedics will be ready. As soon as the train reaches the next station, the doctor immediately gets up inside the train to check the passenger. If the passenger is in more trouble, then the facility of them getting admitted to the nearest hospital will also be provided.
Two cases of medical help saved life of two passengers
Recently, a passenger travelling by train number 22114 Kochuveli-LTT Superfast Express from Madgaon to LTT suffered from chest pain. Her family sought help through Rail Madad App. LTT Deputy Station Superintendent along with a medical team provided timely assistance and the passenger was rushed to the nearest hospital. Timely medical assistance was provided and the passenger’s life was saved.
In another case, a woman travelling by train number 17412 Kolhapur-Mumbai Mahalaxmi Express started experiencing labour pain after the train left Lonavala. On receiving the information, a medical team was ready in Karjat station where the woman was rushed to the nearest hospital. She gave birth to a healthy baby girl.
