FCA Enters Heritage Business, Joins Jaguar, Aston Martin
Instead of building brand new cars from the original blueprints in the way Aston and Jaguar are doing, FCA is going to be sourcing old originals and restoring them back to their original factory-fresh standard.

The likes of Jaguar and Aston Martin have recently been resurrecting classic models of the past that they are building just as they were decades ago, and they are then selling them to eager to collectors who are willing to pay seriously big money for them. It's starting to turn into an extremely profitable revenue stream for the manufacturers, and now Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is getting in on the act by restoring classic Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Lancia models.

The initiative is called "Reloaded by Creators," and this new sales service is aimed at collectors of classic Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo and Abarth models. It's the kind of thing specialist independent garages have been doing for years, but now one of the world's biggest auto groups is muscling in. And the first five models FCA has restored are now being displayed in Paris at the Retromobile classic car expo.

The Reloaded by Creators department will sell only a limited number of classic cars at a time, which is hardly a surprise, considering how much effort it must take to source the right cars to begin with. After carefully selecting and purchasing each model, they are then completely restored to their original, factory fresh specification. Each of the restored vehicles will come guaranteed with a certificate of authenticity from FCA, and it's said that all the money raised from sales of the restored cars will go to finance the sourcing of further new models for FCA's own historic collection.
