New Rapid Metro Route To Link Ghaziabad RRTS To Noida Airport? Details Inside
The RapidX will provide fast connectivity between Noida airport area at Jewar and Delhi Airport using this proposed route.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) will soon complete the detailed project report (DPR) of RapidX-cum-metro route, and submit the same by April 4, said the Yamuna Expressway industrial development authority (YEIDA) on February 23.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation and Yamuna Expressway industrial development authority officials discussed the alignment of this project at Greater Noida’s sector Omega-I.

The 72.26 km RapidX-cum-metro route from Ghaziabad RRTS to Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar includes 38 stations, but the present DPR considers 25 stations on which work will start in the initial phase, informed a senior Yamuna Expressway industrial development authority (YEIDA) officer.

Chief executive officer of the YEIDA, Arun Vir Singh said, “The Detailed Project Report (DPR) suggests 25 stations among which 11 are designated for RapidX-cum-metro, while 14 stations are exclusively for metro stoppages,” reported Hindustan times.

The proposed route will pass through Ghaziabad RRTS station, Greater Noida (Sector 2), Greater Noida West (Sector 4), Ghaziabad South, Greater Noida (Sector 12), Yeida North (Sector 18), Yeida Central (Sector 21, 35), Pari Chowk, Surajpur, Ecotech VI, Dankaur, and Noida International airport at GTC (ground transportation centre).

The RapidX will provide fast connectivity between Noida airport area at Jewar and Delhi Airport using this proposed route. The metro running on this route will have three coaches and the rapid rail will consist of eight coaches. This will become the largest hub of the Rapid Rail Transit System commencing from Sarai Kale Khan.

“The DPR is being prepared by the NCRTC which is likely to be submitted to authority by April 4. In the initial phase, twenty-five stations will be developed while the rest 13 stations will be developed in later phases,” said Singh.

Arun Vir Singh further explained that the work on this project will be taken to the next stage once the UP government and the government of India give all required approvals. With this project, the travel time between Noida International Airport and Indira Gandhi Airport will reduce. The NCRTC has designed the operation of RapidX in such a way that the journey can be completed in about 45 minutes by high-speed Rapid Rail with the maximum speed of be 140 km per hour.

The media outlet further reported that the estimated cost of this elevated project is close to Rs 16,200 crore, and the target is to complete it by the year 2031. The cost will be finalised once the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is approved by the state and central govt following the laid down procedures. The share of the Central Government will be 20 percent, and 50 percent will be of the State Government, and NAIL will have a 30 percent share.

“The alignment will have a ridership of 2.95 lakh passengers per day in 2031, growing to 5.23 lakh passengers by 2041 and to 6.32 lakh per day in 2051,” said Singh.
