India is not a country made for open-top convertible cars that not only looks good but also let that wind pass through your hair – a dream for most of the motorists. From harsh weather to high prices, convertibles were never a favorite among the car buyers in India but this Tata Harrier convertible rendering by YouTuber NM Tunes will definitely make you think twice. First showcased at the H5X concept at the Auto Expo 2018, Tata Harrier has retained most of the design cues from the concept version. If we have to go by the looks alone, the Harrier might very well be the best looking Indian SUV ever and after the convertible rendering, it’s looking like its British cousin Evoque convertible.
For the rendering, the YouTuber has given a tinted treatment to the windshield and removed the roof and the D-pillar. At the front, the Tata Harrier convertible retains the aggressive skid guard from the H5X concept and the headlamps on the SUV have been given a smoked effect. The alloy wheels from the H5X concept have also been retained to give a bold stance to the car.
The new Tata Harrier SUV will be launched in India on January 23 and people have very keen eyes on the pricing of the new model. The car is based on the IMPACT Design 2.0 philosophy, it is engineered on the new generation ‘Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced’ Architecture, which is derived from the legendary Land Rover D8 architecture and developed in collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover.
The newest member of the Tata family is powered by Kryotec 2.0 diesel engine that produces 140 PS of power and churns out 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The car gets 3 engine drive modes – Eco, City and Sport that are married to ESP terrain response modes – Normal, Rough and Wet for taking on difficult terrains.
When launched, Tata Harrier will compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass.
