Anushka Sharma’s Chakda Xpress and Triptii Dimri’s Afghaani Snow are among the few movies whose releases might be impacted, if a new report is to be believed. Chakda Xpress and Afghaani Snow are backed by Clean Slate Filmz, a production house by Anushka’s brother Karnesh Ssharma. It is reported that the production house, who had signed a partnership with Netflix, has ended their partnership with the OTT platform. If this is true, this could impact the releases of the films.
Although the real reason behind their deal termination is unclear, a source told Peeping Moon that there were “creative disagreement” and “budgetary issues”. The deal ending might have the biggest impact on Anushka Sharma’s Chakda Xpress and Vijay Varma and Triptii Dimri’s Afghaani Snow. Both films have reportedly completed filming but there has not been a release date slotted. To top it off, they were omitted in the line ups of this year’s releases.
It is claimed that Clean Slate Filmz might repurchase the film from Netflix and might look out for other platforms to release it on. Clean Slate Filmz and Netflix are yet to address these claims.
Chakda ‘Xpress will show the journey of Jhulan Goswami, who rose above hurdles like misogyny, politics, and discrimination along her way to becoming an inspiration for an entire generation of sportswomen. She will be seen alongside Renuka Shahane, Anshul Chauhan, Koushik Sen, and Mahesh Thakur in Prosit Roy’s directorial. The film was announced by Netflix in 2022. Chakda ‘Xpress is penned by Abhishek Banerjee.
Meanwhile, Meanwhile, Afghaani Snow stars Vijay Varma and Triptii Dimri. Details about the project are still under the wraps.
Clean Slate Filmz and Netflix have collaborated on a few projects in the past. These include Triptii Dimri’s Bulbbul, and Qala, and Mai: A Mother’s Rage which starred Sakshi Tanwar.
