This film is based on the renowned Punjabi singer, Amar Singh Chamkila, born on July 21, 1960. Fondly known as the Elvis Presley of Punjab, he discovered his passion for singing at a young age. While working in a cloth mill, he began writing songs, eventually recording and performing them. His breakthrough came with the widely acclaimed song Takue Te Takua, propelling him to fame in the rural side of Punjab, where he adopted the stage name Chamkila. Following is the original video of the song where Amar Singh Chamkila and Amarjot Kaur performed on Takue Te Takua.
Unfortunately, Amar Singh Chamkila’s life came to an end when he and Amarjot Kaur were gunned down in Mehsampur, Punjab, as they were preparing to perform. The assailants, who arrived on bikes, swiftly fled the scene and the case reportedly remains unresolved to this day.
