New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called upon both the government and India Inc to trust each other.
"We must trust corporate India so should corporate world trust the government. Corporate India should offer to partner in capacity building," the Prime Minister said while inaugurating the India Corporate Week 2010 in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Asking, the corporate companies to take care of the environment, Singh said, "Companies should employ environmentally friendly ways and not find short cuts. Ethical and responsible behaviour should be a part of the corporate world and the government outlook," said the Prime Minister.
Praising the corporate leaders of the country, Singh said, "India is a nation of entrepreneurs and world class professionals".
The Prime Minister also assured to provide a suitable environment for the corporate sector.
"Government is committed to provide a suitable atmosphere for the development of corporate sector," added Singh.
Singh's remarks on Radia tapes issue come in the backdrop of Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata approaching the Supreme Court against the leakage of tapes involving him and corporate lobbyist Nira Radia. HDFC Chairman Deepak Parikh had also commented earlier this week on telephone tapping and leakage of 'private conversations'. He said the morale of the industry has been hurt by such incidents.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has spoken out for the first time on the Nira Radia tapes controversy, in a bid to address the concerns of corporate India.
