ITC Chairman and Managing Director Sanjiv Puri received a total remuneration of Rs 25.18 crore during the financial year 2023-24, according to the company’s annual report 2024. It is 54.38 per cent higher than the total remuneration of Rs 16.31 crore he got in the previous year 2022-23.
Puri’s salary includes a basic salary of Rs 3.12 crore, perquisites and other benefits of Rs 57.7 lakh, and a performance bonus of Rs 21.48 crore during 2023-24, compared with Rs 2.88 crore, Rs 57.38 lakh and Rs 12.88 crore, respectively, during the previous year FY23.
During the financial year 2023-24, Sanjiv Puri was also granted a total of 1,34,500 stock options. As of March 2024, the CMD of ITC Ltd held 2,79,843 ordinary shares.
Shares of ITC on Friday were almost flat to end the day at Rs 424.9 apiece on the BSE, compared with Rs 425.15 apiece on Thursday.
Puri joined ITC in January 1986, and is currently the chairman and managing director of the FMCG giant since 2019. He is also the president of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the apex business and industry association in the country.
Salaries of Other Industry Stalwarts
According to Adani group’s annual reports, Gautam Adani received a total remuneration of Rs 9.26 crore in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2024. He drew a salary from only two out of the 10 companies in his ports-to-energy conglomerate.
Mukesh Ambani has been foregoing his entire salary since Covid-19 broke out prior to which he had capped his remuneration at Rs 15 crore. Airtel’s Sunil Bharti Mittal received Rs 16.7 crore in 2022-23, Rajiv Bajaj (Rs 53.7 crore), and Pawan Munjal (Rs 80 crore).
