Actor Arjun Sarja's Family Drama Rhythm Completes 23 Years

Actor Srinivasa Sarja, more popularly known by his stage name Arjun, predominantly works in Tamil cinema. But Arjun has also acted in many Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi films. His journey in the film industry began at a young age when he made his debut as a child actor in the 1981 film Simhada Mari Sainya. Since then, Arjun has graced the silver screen in over 160 films, often in leading roles.

One of the standout moments in Arjun’s illustrious career is the Tamil musical drama film Rhythm which celebrated its 23rd anniversary on Friday. Directed and written by Vasanth and produced by V Natarajan, the film features Arjun and actress Meena in pivotal roles, supported by a talented ensemble cast including Jyothika, Ramesh Aravind, Lakshmi, Nagesh and Manivannan.

The heartwarming narrative of Rhythm revolves around a single mother who reconsiders her stance on marriage after encountering a single man with a similar past involving their respective spouses. The film beautifully explores themes of love, loss, and second chances.

The film’s scenic beauty represents the dedication of the crew, with significant portions shot in Bombay and various picturesque locales in Mysore, including the captivating Shivanasamudra dam and the sacred Thriveni Sangama. The production team also ventured into South India, capturing scenes in Chalakudy and Ooty, and embarked on a spiritual journey to Haridwar, Badrinath, and Gangotri. A slice of the film’s narrative was also etched against the backdrop of Juinagar Station in New Bombay.

The musical soul of Rhythm is none other than the iconic AR Rahman, who composed its enchanting soundtrack, while the poetic touch of Vairamuthu graced the film’s lyrics. The visual finesse of Rhythm was skillfully crafted by cinematographer PS Vinod and Sreekar Prasad’s expert editing brought the story to life.

Upon its release, Rhythm garnered widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences. The film earned Shivakumar the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Audiographer, a testament to the film’s impeccable sound design. Meena’s outstanding performance in the movie also earned her the prestigious Best Actress accolade at the Cinema Express Awards.

In his recent cinematic outing, Arjun was seen in the action-packed film Iddaru, written and directed by SS Sameer. The movie featured an ensemble cast including JD Chakravarthi, Sony Charishta, Faisal Khan, Radhika Kumaraswamy and K Viswanath.
