As Khushboo Sundar Turns 53, A Look At Her Transition From From Films To Politics

Tamil actress Kushboo Sundar turned 53 years old on Friday. She has made a special place in the hearts of people with her acting prowess and charming persona. The actress started her journey as a child artist with the 1980 film The Burning Train. She then went on to appear in films like Naseeb, Laawaris, Kaalia, Dard Ka Rishta and Bemisal.

In 1985, she was seen in a supporting role in the much-acclaimed film Meri Jung as Anil Kapoor’s younger sister. That year itself, she starred in a lead role in the film Jaanoo opposite veteran actor Jackie Shroff. Following this, she was seen in films such as Tan-Badan and Deewana Mujh Sa Nahin.

Khushboo, an actor and producer, is best known for films like Chinna Thambi, Irattai Roja, Pazhani and Kaalia. Some of her other notable projects include Natpe Thunai, Lakshmi Stores, Kalakalappu 2, Muthina Kathirika, Aambala, Nagaram and Ainthaam Padai.

Speaking about her political career, Khushboo Sundar switched allegiance to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after being removed from her role as National Spokesperson by the Indian National Congress (INC). This move by the actress precedes the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections scheduled for 2026. After her six-year tenure with the grand old party, the former AICC member tendered her resignation from the Congress party.

Apart from being popular for her acting and political career, she often creates strides on social media. A few days back, the actress shared a post for her daughter Avantika Sundar. Sharing the birthday post for her, Khushboo wrote in the caption, “May your 23rd be sunshine every day. Happy Birthday, my darling, my heart’s true treasure. May your world always be filled with laughter and pleasure.”

Even in Tiruchirappalli, some fans produced a film as a special tribute to her. This is attributed to her success as the first Indian actress with a temple dedicated to her honour. Unfortunately, this temple was later taken down in 2006.

Khushboo tied the wedding knot with actor, director and producer Sundar C. The duo has two daughters, Avantika and Anandita. Before her marriage, the actress dated actor Prabhu for quite a long time before they parted ways.
