'Talked With Him Last Week': Director Vasanth Mourns The Sudden Demise Of Marimuthu
After paying tribute, the popular director Vasanth interacted with the media and shared his feelings about the late actor Marimuthu.

Tamil actor and director G Marimuthu passed away at the age of 58 due to cardiac arrest in Chennai on September 8. He was rushed to a private hospital after collapsing during a dubbing session in a TV studio in Chennai. He was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital. He is survived by his wife Backiyalakshmi and children, Ishwarya and Akilan.

The actor rose to fame with a Tamil TV serial Ethirneechal. His demise has caused a great shock among the film industry and fans. He directed only two films–Kannum Kannum (2008) and Pulivaal (2014) but has acted in over 50 Tamil films throughout his career. The actor was last seen in Rajinikanth starrer Jailer. He played a negative role in the movie.

After paying tribute to his body, the popular director Vasanth interacted with the media and shared his feelings about the late actor Marimuthu. He said that he has worked with Marimuthu for almost 10 years. The late actor had worked with him as an assistant director and Deputy Director for some of his notable films. “ For the past year, whenever you look, it’s Marimuthu” Vasanth while highlighting the success of the late actor Marimuthu.

He shared a hidden quality of the actor and director Marimuthu and said that the late actor never talked without a point. He always had a motive behind his words. He was introduced to Marimuthu by the lyricist and poet Vairamuthu. Director Vasanth then took him as an assistant director for the movie Aasai. The film was a commercial success.

Director Vasanth later invited Marimuthu to act in his film which was titled Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum. But before that, the actor became famous due to his role in the movie Pariyerum Perumal. However, this didn’t affect the relationship between Vasanth and Marimuthu. The late actor insisted the director cast him in the movie.

Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum was later released on the OTT platform Sony LIV. The film received appreciation from the audience and critics. The film won three national awards. Director Vasanth said that last week he invited Marimuthu for the promotional song of this movie.
