Leo, starring Thalapathy Vijay, was one of this year’s most highly-anticipated movies and it hit the screens yesterday in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Telugu languages. Fans from Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari, Villupuram and Dindigul have shared their views about the film recently. Fans from the Kanyakumari and Villupuram districts celebrated the first show of the movie Leo by setting off fireworks and attending the screening. The initial screening began at 9:00 AM and concluded at 12:00 PM. In Dindigul district, a grand total of 88 shows were held across 12 theatres. Leo had its release in the city with 3 theatres, and in the suburbs with 9 theatres.
After watching the film, fans from the Dindigul district shared their review, saying, “Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has surpassed fans’ expectations by making Leo a family-friendly movie. Fans further stated, “Just like Thalapathy Vijay, who played the lead role, all the characters in the film are unique. As far as the collection of Leo is concerned, the film is set to exceed 1000 crore rupees”.
Fans from the Villupuram district shared that the film takes a novel approach. Fans praise Anirudh’s music and the on-screen chemistry between Trisha and Vijay. The duo earlier worked together in the film Ghilli. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj also received accolades for his work.
Thalapathy Vijay delivered on fans’ expectations. Leo has been hailed for its action sequences, grand dance performances, family-oriented plot and intense moments. Some fans praised Thalapathy Vijay and Sanjay Dutt and labelled the film as a blockbuster. Few fans expressed their disappointment with the protagonist’s portrayal in Leo. Fans have noted a recurring theme in Lokesh’s films, often revolving around family relationships, particularly those involving fathers and their children. Drawing a parallel to a scene in Vikram, where Kamal Haasan uses a rocking chair to connect with his grandson, a similar heartwarming moment is portrayed in Vijay’s character, Parthi, as he shares a special bond with his daughter while seated in a rocking chair.
Leo is an action-packed thriller that boasts an ensemble cast including Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Menon, Mysskin, Priya Anand, and Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt.
Lokesh Kanagaraj penned the screenplay with Rathna Kumar and Deeraj Vaidy. The film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while Manoj Paramahamsa and Philomin Raj took charge of cinematography and editing, respectively.
In multiple states, like Kerala and Karnataka, Leo secured early morning shows. This film marks the reunion of Vijay and Kanagaraj, after their 2021 blockbuster film Master.
As per the latest reports, Leo has achieved an unprecedented feat by securing the most substantial worldwide opening for a Tamil film in history. Additionally, it has claimed the title of the biggest opening in Tamil Nadu for the year 2023, coupled with the highest first-day collection for a Tamil film in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala.
