Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu revealed that he will represent the MI Emirates in the upcoming season of the ILT20 and cited the same as the reason for his exit from the political party YSRCP.

The 38-year-old joined the YSRCP party on the 28th of December, before stating that he would quit on the 6th of January.

Rayudu took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to express, “I Ambati Rayudu will be representing the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming ILt20 from jan 20th in Dubai. Which requires me to be politically non affiliated whilst playing professional sport.”

The former CSK player also expressed his decision to step away from politics with a post that read, “This is to inform everyone that I have decided to quit the YSRCP Party and stay out of politics for a little while. Further action will be conveyed in due course of time. Thank You.”

Rayudu enjoyed a trophy-laden time with the Mumbai Indians franchise during his 7-year tenure for the Maharashtra-based side, and returns to the MI banner with his foray into the ILT20.

Rayudu made the switch to CSK in the year 2018 and plied his trade at the Chennai-based unit until he retired from the money-rich tournament after claiming the trophy with the MS Dhoni-led side in the latest edition of the IPL.

Rayudu has opted to venture into the ILT20, to be held in the United Arab Emirates, renewing his association with the MI flag.
