The West Indies cricket team will be aiming to avoid a Test series defeat when they take the field against Australia in the second Test. The second and final Test match of the series is scheduled to start on Thursday, January 25, at the Brisbane Cricket Ground. The second Test in Brisbane will be a pink-ball affair involving Australia and West Indies.
Australia’s track record in pink-ball Tests suggests that the Pat Cummins-led can have a fruitful outing against West Indies in Brisbane this time. The Aussies kicked off the series on a promising note with a resounding 10-wicket victory in the opening contest.
Australia batter Travis Head was named player of the match for scoring a spending hundred in the Test series opener against the Caribbean side. Head played a fine knock of 119 in the first innings. Australian bowlers were also in sublime form in the first Test.
Chasing a target of 26, the hosts scored the winning runs in 6.4 overs. Ahead of the second Test, Australia will have to deal with injury headaches with batter Usman Khawaja being closely observed for signs of concussion. The southpaw, however, is expected to be fine for the second Test against West Indies.
