Australian cricketer Marnus Labuschagne opted for a bizarre fielding tactic while bowling in a Sheffield Shield game. The Queensland captain decided to roll his arms on the first day of the opening clash against Western Australia at the WACA Ground in Perth. Labuschagne came into the attack in the 64th over when his counterpart Sam Whiteman was batting with wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis. The Australian came up with an unorthodox approach midway through his spell, asking one of the fielders to stand right next to him.
In a video shared by Cricket Australia, Labuschagne was seen adjusting the fielder while standing at the top of his bowling mark. The Queensland skipper initially placed his teammate right behind the umpire but later instructed him to shift slightly to his left.
Labuschangne then began his run-up and unleashed a bouncer, which Josh Inglis failed to connect. The commentators were left in splits after seeing the rare strategy.

Labuschagne registered two maidens during his three-over spell on Day 1 in Perth. Western Australia posted 319 on the board, riding on centuries by Sam Whiteman and Josh Inglis. The duo put up a 203-run stand. Their partnership was broken by Matt Renshaw who dismissed Inglis at 122.
A few overs later, Whiteman also walked back to the pavilion after registering 102 runs off 237 balls. Labuschagne came in to bowl again on Day 2 and took the crucial wicket of Cameron Gannon, who had already completed his half-century.
With his participation in the Sheffield Shield, Marnus Labuschagne aims to prepare for the Border Gavaskar Trophy, scheduled to start in November. India have triumphed in the last four editions of the bilateral Test series. Australia will be desperate to turn the tables this time on home soil.
Before going into the Test assignment, Australia are set to host Pakistan in a white-ball series comprising three ODIs and as many T20Is. The first ODI is slated to take place in Melbourne on November 4.
