India fast bowler Mohammed Shami says he’s 100 per cent prepared for the upcoming tour of Australia that starts in a month’s time. Shami has been dealing with fitness concerns for over a year now with an ankle injury keeping him out of action for a significant period before a knee issue further delayed his competitive comeback.

However, the 34-year-old is trying his level best to get fully fit for the five-match Test series in Australia slated to get underway from November 21.
Recently, there were reports of Shami being hit a knee injury that put a big question mark over him being part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The veteran fast bowler took to social media to deny the reports, branding them as ‘fake news’.
In an exclusive conversation with News18, Shami requested to not make any claims, especially on social media, without confirming it first.
“I have requested it several times that before sharing anything, please confirm,” Shami said. “Everyone is on social media these days. People have the freedom to speak but that doesn’t give them the right to say anything. People should think before saying anything so as to not be hurtful to others. My only request is to please confirm before sharing anything on social media.”
After the end of the first Test between India and New Zealand in Bengaluru on Sunday, Shami raised hopes of his return to full fitness after being captured bowling at full pelt to Shubman Gill during a practice session.
The 2023 ODI World Cup final on November 19 remains Shami’s last competitive match following which he underwent a surgery to treat an ankle issue. During this period, he missed out several important competitions including the South Africa tour, a home Test series against England, IPL 2024 and 2024 T20 World Cup.
Shami had a memorable ODI World Cup last year where he finished as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker.
