The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is around the corner and the excitement is already at an all-time high. The season opener will take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, featuring Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). This is going to be a record-breaking ninth time that the CSK will play the first game of an IPL season.

The forthcoming season will get underway following a grand opening ceremony at Chepauk. The preparations are in full swing and a glimpse of which was seen on social media. In a video going viral on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter), the MA Chidambaram looks exquisite ahead of the opening ceremony on Friday.

The opening ceremony this year is expected to be more extravagant than the ones in previous years. Fans can anticipate an exciting pregame ceremony that includes performances by Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, as well as musical legends AR Rahman and Sonu Nigam.

CSK – The Defending Champions

Dhoni-led CSK won their fifth IPL title last year when they dethroned Gujarat Titans in an epic finale held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With that, CSK also drew level with Mumbai Indians on the most titles win list.

However, it remains unclear when the captain will call time on his IPL career. He had earlier hinted that he wanted to bring down the curtains in yellow in a special manner. However, it is not certain as to what he has planned.
