IPL 2024: Watching Virat Kohli in Bengaluru Could Cost You as High as Rs 52,938
Buying the most expensive ticket for watching an IPL 2024 match in Bengaluru could set you back by Rs 52,938.

The price for the best view of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s home game in the Indian Premier League (IPL) can burn a massive hole in your wallet.

Despite having an unimpressive start to their campaign this season, RCB continue to enjoy the support of a loyal fan base. With the demand for IPL tickets continue to soar, several franchises are looking to cash in on the situation.

As per a report by The Indian Express, the cost for a last-minute booking for the best seat for RCB’s opening home game went as high as Rs 52,938.

The quoted cost is much higher than its original surge pricing rate of Rs 42,350, according to the report. The cheapest ticket that you can get for the same game is Rs 2300, also the highest in the IPL in that particular category.

The report further states that the cheapest tickets that fans can buy in IPL 2024 are for the home games of the Lucknow Super Giants and the Gujarat Titans at Rs 499 each.

The most expensive tickets for the same games cost Rs 20,000. Teams including the Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals have a high base ticket price of Rs 1700 and Rs 2000 respectively.

The premium tickets for the two franchises do not exceed Rs 6000.

While the base ticket costs are exempted from surge pricing, the cost of higher-end tickets will continue to see a spike as the match day approaches. The owners of various IPL franchises are adopting these dynamic-rates strategies to maximise their gate collection.

The board has given all franchises a free hand to decide their ticket prices.

“They (franchises) do the pricing by themselves. We provide them with the infrastructure and our job is to fulfil their requirements. We don’t engage in the pricing of tickets,” secretary of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) told the daily.

The CEO of Chennai Super Kings Kasi Vishwanathan justified the soaring high prices. “When tickets are being sold in the black market for huge prices – which is of no use to us – we have to adjust it accordingly. So after the stadium facilities were upgraded, the price was adjusted as per market demand. Moreover, we pay 58 per cent tax. So the returns are minimal for us,” he said.

RCB are currently placed at the bottom of the IPL 2024 points table with one win from seven games. Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, are placed atop the IPL 2024 standings having claimed six wins from seven games so far.
