The Lucknow Super Giants beat Mumbai Indians by four wickets to take their points tally to 12 from 10 matches they’ve played so far in IPL 2024.
The win for LSG was scripted by the all-round performance of the Australian international Marcus Stoinis who chipped in with a wicket in the powerplay in the first innings, followed by a composed half-century in the chase to help the home side get the win.
With that win, LSG have climbed up to the third in the race to the playoffs as they are level on points with Kolkata Knight Riders. However, their inferior run rate keeps them at third instead of second and KKR also have a game in hand.

The franchise has all the reasons to be optimistic about their chances to make it to the playoffs for a third consecutive season. Despite the loss of Mayank Yadav due to injury, the side has shown that they have what it takes to keep getting some wins on the board.
Following the game against MI, the Super Giants have to now look at their remaining fixtures where they take on KKR, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals and MI once again in the reverse fixture.

However, if some of the close rivals can lose some of their games, it will be a favourable outcome for LSG which will enable them to confirm their spot in the playoffs quickly.

Their next game which is against KKR, will prove to be a very crucial fixture which could determine who gets the second spot in the table and potentially get the ticket to play the qualifier for the direct entry to the finals.
For MI, their chances of a playoff spot are almost shut down. They will have to win all four of their remaining games and also hope that they can register some big wins to boost their net run rate and potentially hope that some of the other outcomes fall in their favour.
