No Slot For Husband Mitchell Starc in Alyssa Healy’s T20 World Cup 11, Autsralia Pacer Reacts
Having added her husband as the 12th man, Alyssa Healy revealed a hilarious reason behind the pick.

Australia women’s team skipper Alyssa Healy had a surprise role for her husband Mitchell Starc in her team of the tournament picks for the T20 World Cup. Healy announced these picks on the Willow Talk Podcast alongside Australia’s ex-fielding coach Brad Haddin. Healy made some notable choices but did not include Starc in the playing 11.

Having added her husband as the 12th man, Healy revealed a hilarious reason behind the pick.

“I’ve got Mitch Starc at 12 because he did pretty well running the drinks the other day,” she said.

The hilarious explanation left the entire panel laughing, even prompting a reply from Starc himself in the comments. “Yeah no thanks. I’ll be at the golf course,” the left-arm Australia pacer joked.

Alyssa Healy’s picks resulted in the talk show host Adam Peacock jokingly saying that the women’s team skipper would not be getting a nice duty-free gift from her husband.

Healy responded by saying that she at least put Mitchell Starc on the list. Peacock further joked, “I am sure he would be pumped about mixing Gatorade instead of bowling four.” Alyssa replied, “It looked like he did it really well.”

Speaking of Alyssa Healy’s picks, she chose some star names in her line-up including, Travis Head, Babar Azam, David Miller, Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan. The other names are Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Brandon McMullen, Marcus Stonis, Adam Zampa, Anrich Nortje and Fazalhaq Farooqi.

While Alyssa Healy at least found a place for Mitchell Starc on the list, Australia ex-batter Brad Haddin exempted the pacer from the list entirely.

Speaking on the podcast, he said, “Well, I definitely haven’t got Starcy as 12th.” Haddin also revealed that he had eight of Alyssa’s choices on his list. He added Aaron Jones, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah in the playing 11. As for the 12th man, Haddin went with Australia’s T20I captain Mitchell Marsh.

Explaining his reason Brad Haddin said, “When I played and when I coached, he [Mitchell Marsh] was the best fun. So your 12th man, I don’t want someone there doing laps before play and after play, getting high catches. I want someone to organise the winning party and Mitchell Marsh would do that.”

Speaking of Mitchell Starc’s ongoing T20 World Cup campaign, the left-arm quick has failed to do anything impressive in terms of his individual performance. In the three matches that he has played so far, Starc has taken two wickets, both of which came against Oman in their tournament opener. The Aussie speedster has been wicket-less since and was even dropped from the playing 11 against Namibia. Having entered the Super Eight phase of the tournament, Starc will now be looking to step up his performances for Australia.
