Pakistan and Ireland are set to compete against each other in the ICC U-19 World Cup Super Six stage on Tuesday, January 30. Pakistan have proven to be one of the best teams in the ongoing tournament in South Africa. They began their journey with a dominant 181-run win against Afghanistan. Pakistan next got the better of Nepal comfortably by five wickets in the second game. Their most important victory came in the previous match where they beat New Zealand by 10 wickets to sail into the Super Six phase of the competition. In that match, the Asian side were able to curb the Kiwis to just 140 runs in the first half. A joint partnership in the second innings between Shahzaib Khan and Shamyl Hussain was enough to help the team cross the finish line.
Pakistan will take on Ireland at the Senwes Park in their opening game of the ICC U-19 World Cup Super Six stage. Ireland, on the other hand, were able to qualify for the Super Six stage after losing two out of the three games they played. Their only group-stage victory came against the USA which saw them win the match by seven wickets. It would now take the Irish side a miraculous performance against Pakistan to remain afloat in the ongoing tournament.
