Pakistan and New Zealand will kickstart their T20 World Cup preparations with a T20I series slated to get underway from today. Pakistan will be aiming to build some good momentum before competing in the upcoming marquee event.
They took part in a five-match T20I series against the Kiwis earlier this year. Pakistan had lost that T20I series 1-4 following which they removed Shaheen Afridi as captain and reappointed Babar Azam into the role.
Their only victory came in the final match of the series. After putting up a total of 138 in the first innings, Pakistan displayed a brilliant bowling performance to curb the Kiwis at 92. Iftikhar Ahmed was awarded Player of the Match with a three-wicket haul. The Asian outfit will now look to kick off their upcoming T20I series on a similar note.
The T20I series opener between Pakistan and New Zealand will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday. Having bagged the previous series convincingly, New Zealand, who are heavily depleted, will be looking to maintain good form ahead of the World Cup.
