Suyash Prabhudessai 143 helps Goa secure a point against Karnataka, Punjab and Tripura, Jharkhand and Servides settle for a draw and Abdul Samad's fifty helps J&K secure win over Odisha.

Goa opener Suyash Prabhudessai compiled an unbeaten 143 as their Group C Ranji Trophy match against Karnataka ended in a draw here on Monday.

Karnataka earned three points for taking the first-innings lead, while Goa got one.

Starting the day on 93 for one, Goa lost Krishnamurthy Siddharth (57) early and was 123 for three before Prabhudessai and Deepraj Gaonkar (36) joined forces to put up a 99-run stand for the fourth wicket.

Although Rohit Kumar broke the partnership with the wicket of Gaonkar, Prabhudessai kept going with some help from the incoming batters.

After he brought up his fourth first-class century, the visitors finished the day on 282 for six.

For the hosts, Vijaykumar Vyshak and Rohit took a wicket each in the second innings.

Punjab and Tripura settle for a draw

In Mohali, the meeting between Punjab and Tripura also ended in a draw. The match was mostly marred by bad light, with play on Day 1 and Day 3 being abandoned.

The final day also saw a delayed start, as Punjab resumed on 78 for seven. However, the side got bundled out for 109, thanks to Manisankar Murasingh and Rana Dutta’s three wickets each, while Nehal Wadhera (56) was the top scorer.

As for Tripura, they managed to finish the day on 51 for two. While opener Bikramkumar Das (23) top-scored, Baltej Singh and Siddarth Kaul took a wicket each.

The game between Chandigarh and Gujarat was called off due to bad light, leading to a draw.

Abdul Samad pushes J&K to secure win

Abdul Samad helped Jammu & Kashmir overcome a tricky chase with an unbeaten 66, steering his team to a two-wicket win over Odisha.

It was the first win of the season for J&K after sharing points with Delhi and Himachal in their two home games marred by bad light in Elite Group D.

Resuming at 72 for four, J&K needed another 77 runs for the win and they somehow managed to cross the line.

IPL regular Samad stood like a rock as wickets kept falling at the other end. His knock comprised seven fours and two sixes.

Samad remained unbeaten alongside India pacer Umran Malik when the winning runs were scored.

J&K had taken the first-innings lead by making 180 in response to Odisha’s 130 on the opening day.

Services walked away with three points after playing out a draw against Jharkhand in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group A match here on Monday.

Resuming at 315/3 on the fourth and final day in reply to Jharkhand’s 316 in the first innings, Services ensured they had a big lead in their kitty as they made 473 for 8 at the end of play.

Jharkhand and Services settle for a draw

Ravi Chauhan and Rajat Paliwal notched up their respective second consecutive tons to bolster Services at the Airforce Complex Ground at Palam.

Chauhan finished at 158 from 305 balls with 15 fours, having resumed at 133 on the fourth day, whereas skipper Paliwal struck 111 from 193 balls studded with 14 fours.

While Vineet Dhankar made 37 (69 balls, 6x4s), wicketkeeper-batter Lovekesh Bansal cracked six fours to make 50 off 113 deliveries.

For Jharkhand, left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem toiled for his 3/112, sending down 47.5 overs while Anukul Roy claimed 3/90 and Sushant Mishra took 2/114.

In Chandigarh: Gujarat 86-2 (Sunpreetsingh Bagga 39 not out; Jagjit Singh 2/27) drew Chandigarh.

Odisha 130 and 198 vs Jammu & Kashmir 180 and 149/8 in 23.2 overs (Abdul Samad 66 not out; Rajesh Mohanty 5/61). J&K beat Odisha by two wickets.

Jharkhand: 316 drew with Services 473/8 (Ravi Chauhan 158, Rajat Paliwal 111, Lovekesh Bansal 50; Anukul Roy 3/90). Points: Services 3, Jharkhand 1.
