Team India international, Rinku Singh is set to take part in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 tournament. The 26-year-old who was taking part in the UPT20 League captaining the Meerut Mavericks will exit the squad to join India B for the remaining fixtures.

A report by the Times of  India confirmed that the southpaw would be heading to join the Abhimanyu Easwaran-led squad that managed to take the win by 76 runs against India A in Bengaluru on Sunday.

“My job is to work hard, and I am extremely delighted to have received the call for Duleep Trophy. When the teams were initially announced, I was not selected. Today, I feel even more elated as I am here to represent India B in the prestigious Duleep Trophy,” Rinku said as quoted by TOI.

The Indian international might be more renowned for his finishing skills with the bat in the shortest format. But he also has a very decent first-class record scoring 3173 runs in 47 matches at an average of 54.7. This includes 7 centuries and 20 half-centuries with his highest score being an unbeaten 163.

India B was able to take the win in their opening game thanks to the brilliant knock by Musheer Khan who struck 181 in the first innings. With several key players making their way to the national squad, the addition of Rinku and Aaqib will prove to be fine replacements as they aim to continue their winning momentum.

India B will take on India C led by Ruturaj Gaikwad at the ACA ADCA Ground, in Anantapur on September 5.
