WATCH: Australia's Nathan Lyon Channels Gully Cricket Vibes, Goes Ball-Hunting in the Bushes During Sheffield Shield Match
Australia's Nathan Lyon was seen ball-hunting in the bushes during a Sheffield Shield match between New South Wales and South Australia.

Australia’s veteran off-spinner, Nathan Lyon took to the field but not in the way one would expect as he was part of New South Wales’ Sheffield Shield fixture against South Australia in Sydney.

Lyon was seen having a look around the bushes in search of the ball which was smacked away by the South Australian batting unit. The 36-year-old, after having looked around managed to find a white ball as opposed to the red cherry that they were playing with.

In fact, Lyon was seen holding the white ball which gave many street cricket players a relatable moment where they kept whatever balls they found, even if it did not belong to them.

Lyon had an eventful outing with the ball for New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield so far in the 2024/25 season where he picked up a fifer against South Australia. Alex Carey, Daniel Drew, Ben Manenti, Nathan McAndrew and Jordan Buckingham in the first innings. He also managed to get a singular wicket in the second innings where he dismissed Conor McInerney early on as well.

Sam Konstas has been the pick of the batters as the NSW opener managed to strike centuries across both innings to keep his side well in front by the third day of the match.

Lyon’s Preparations Underway for Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024

As India is set to make the trip Down Under for the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024, Australia will hope that Lyon does not have any injury concerns as the Aussies look to reclaim the title that has eluded them for 10 years.

Lyon will play a key role in the Aussies’ chances as they will hope that with a home advantage, they can finally topple a dominant Indian side that has been firing on all cylinders as of late.

The BGT 2024 series is set to begin on November 22 and will be taking place till January 7, 2025. The five-match series will be played in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney respectively.

Lyon’s counterpart, Ravichandran Ashwin for Team India will also prove to be an absolute menace as both men have managed to navigate through the Australian conditions to become a dominant force Down Under.
