In a sensational postlude of the T20 World Cup 2024, a clip of Rohit Sharma’s humongous banner has emerged on social media. Rohit guided Team India to their second T20 World Cup crown after beating South Africa by seven runs in the final match.
Following his historic triumph, a giant banner of Rohit was installed on a building. A video, showing the banner, has now been shared on X (formerly Twitter). The banner features a photograph of the Indian skipper as he is seen holding his bat up in the air. “World Cup-winning captain Rohit Sharma,” read the banner.

It was revealed in the comments section, that the banner was installed in Vizag, hometown of Rohit Sharma’s mom. This is not the first time Rohit’s banner has emerged during an ICC event. In 2023, Rohit became the talk of the town after a cut-out of the Indian skipper took the internet by storm.
The image depicting Rohit, holding the cherished ODI World Cup trophy, was doing a tour in Pune. Several fans shared the moment on X with one of them writing, “A huge cut-out of Rohit Sharma during the World Cup trophy tour.”

Rohit Sharma’s cut-out might have won the internet at the time but his team eventually failed to lift the ODI World Cup trophy on home soil back then. India had lost the ICC World Cup 2023 final to Australia in Ahmedabad in 2023. The heartbreaking loss, however, could not keep the Indian skipper at bay from achieving a World Cup victory this time.
Less than a year later, Rohit Sharma once again led an unbeaten India to the ICC T20 World Cup final in the West Indies. They faced first-time World Cup finalists South Africa in the summit clash. A 76-run knock from Virat Kohli and crucial bowling performances from Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh guided India to a T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. Chasing a target of 177, South Africa fell short by seven runs.
Following the victory, Rohit Sharma announced that it was his last T20I game for India. Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja also retired from the shortest format of the game.
