'Watch the Ball Hard, Try to Maximise on Powerplay', Says Travis Head as SRH Thrash LSG by 10 Wickets
The SRH openers have been a nightmare for opposition bowling units this season and Head delved into their approach stating that they looked to maximise on the powerplay overs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a mammoth 10-wicket win over the Lucknow Super Giants at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday to climb to the third spot in the IPL 2024 standings.

SRH limited LSG to 165 runs in 20 overs before chasing down the target successfully in 9.4 overs as openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma put up an unbeaten 167 runs opening stand to close out the game with 62 balls to spare.

Head managed an unbeaten 89-run knock off just 30 deliveries and was supported ably by Sharma, who added 75 runs off 28 deliveries. The Australian was handed the Player of the Match award for his exploits and expressed his delight in the partnership he has formed with the young Indian.

“It was a lot of fun today. Nice to get this done in 10 overs. Abhi and I have had a few partnerships like this,” the southpaw began.

The SRH openers have been a nightmare for opposition bowling units this season and Head delved into their approach stating that they looked to maximise on the powerplay overs.

“We just try to concentrate on getting in good positions, watch the ball hard and try to maximise the powerplay,”

The Aussie southpaw opened up on attacking spinners and opined that it is something he has been focusing on ahead of the ICC T20I World Cup, slated to begin following the conclusion of the IPL.

“It is something I have been working on, it will be a big part in the Caribbean as well. It is important to go 360 in the modern game,” he explained.

He also addressed the maverick brand of cricket he has been playing and stated that it has been the same he has been trying to implement in international colours too.

“The last 12 months, that’s how they wanted me to play in the Aussie team, and that’s what I’ve been told to do here as well. There is not much that I have to change,” he revealed.

The Australin heaped praise on his SRH opening partner and expressed delight with the youngster’s showing.

“I know how hard he works and how deep he thinks, his spin play is second to none. We complement each other very well. And it is nice to see him back amongst the runs after missing out the last couple of games,” Head said.

Head also acknowledged the impact of the crowd on the day and spoke about chasing the total in quick fashion once he was made aware of the net run rate by the team.

“We didn’t think about it till the timeout, but after that, the boys came out and told us to score quickly. The crowd was exceptional tonight, that’s what we needed after losing the last two,” he signed off.
