As many as 22 matches will be played in the second edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) with the BCCI announcing the full schedule on Tuesday. The tournament will be held in two legs across two venues – M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
The first season was entirely held in Mumbai and the BCCI decided to move to two cities this time with Bengaluru hosting the first half of league matches and New Delhi the second half.
The season gets underway from February 23 with the final scheduled for March 17. The season opener will see defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) locking horns with last season’s runners-up Delhi Capitals in Bengaluru.

The Delhi leg of the league will start on 5th March, with the home team Delhi Capitals playing their first game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium against Mumbai Indians.
The Eliminator will be played on March 15 before the final, both in the national capital. The team finishing the league as the table-topper will directly make it to the final. The second and third-placed sides will lock horns in the Eliminator.
This edition will see some exciting talents such as Kashvee Gautam and Vrinda Dinesh who had a big payday as a total of 165 players went under the hammer for the 30 spots during the WPL mini-auction in December last year.
Last season, Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by seven wickets to win the inaugural title.
Teams: Mumbai Indians (MI), Delhi Capitals (DC), UP Warriorz (UPW), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Gujarat Giants (GG)
