'You Are Big Inspiration To All', PM Modi Tells Rishabh Pant On His Recovery From Life-threatening Accident
Prime Minister Modi praised Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant for his outstanding performance during the tournament and said, "You are a big inspiration to all"

The Indian cricket team on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi soon after their arrival in the country after winning the T20 World Cup. During the hour-long interaction with each and every player, the Prime Minister praised Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant for his outstanding performance during the tournament.

Complimenting Pant for his extraordinary recovery from the life-threatening accident that took place in December 2022, PM Modi said, “You are a big inspiration to all.”

The Prime Minister also stated that he even spoke to the doctors regarding Pant’s recovery and asked if he was required to be taken abroad for further treatment. “When I talked to your mother, she was really confident of your recovery. That time I knew that a person who is blessed with such a mother will definitely achieve something big. And you truly showed us that you won the war.”

Describing his recovery phase, Pant said, “…1.5 years ago, I was going through a very difficult phase. I remember that you called my mother and said everything would be fine, it was then I became a little calm mentally. After that, during recovery, I used to hear from people whether I would ever be able to play cricket or not, so for the last 1.5 years, I was thinking that I should come back to the field and do better than what I was doing.”

Rishabh Pant’s Deadly Accident

The fans and family of Rishabh Pant were shaken to the core when he survived a horrifying car crash in 2022. The wicketkeeper-batter was driving to his home in Uttarakhand to surprise his mother on New Year’s Eve. However, he dozed off midway and lost control of the car which crashed into a road divider and caught fire.

Pant was lucky enough to be rescued from the accident scene and was rushed to a nearby hospital before getting airlifted to Mumbai for further treatment. His condition was so severe that the doctors predicted a 2-3 year-long recovery. But his willpower and hunger to play for India again let him return in 14 months.
