The Andhra Pradesh government has just announced that the Andhra Pradesh Sankranti school holidays 2024 will be extended by two days for students. According to a notice released by the Commissioner of School Education on Wednesday, January 19 and 20 will now be designated as the Sankranti break. As a result, schools are set to reopen on January 22, 2024. According to Times Now, the Commissioner of School Education issued an order expressing this decision, which took into account the opinions of parents and teachers.
Schools in Andhra Pradesh had previously taken a 10-day break from January 9 to January 18 to mark Sankranti. Telangana too observed a holiday from January 12 to January 17. Schools for intermediate levels closed on January 12 and resumed on January 17. The TS Inter final exams are scheduled to take place between February 29 and March 19.
The notice from the Education Department instructs all District Education Officers in the State to schedule make-up lessons for these two extra days during the next General Holidays in the Academic Year 2023–2024 in order to cover up for the longer holidays. Headmasters of all kinds of schools—public, private, assisted, ZPP/MPP, and all others—are told to follow these rules.
The inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22 has also raised speculations that colleges and schools might receive an extra holiday. However, there hasn’t been a formal statement about this possible holiday as of yet. In view of the inauguration, it’s important to note that Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh have already declared holidays for educational institutions.
Meanwhile, classes from preschool to grade 8 in all Noida and Greater Noida institutions have announced a change in scheduling due to the cold weather. Classes in all schools, from nursery to eighth grade, will begin at 10 am today, January 18, per this notification. According to Gautam Buddh Nagar Basic Education Officer Rahul Panwar, this timing would stay in place till additional directives from the district administration are given.
