NBEMS Extends Deadline for Submitting Self-Appraisals for Trainee Registration, Check Details
NBEMS has extended the deadline for submitting self-appraisals for trainee registration for the 2023 admission session till February 29, 2024

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has extended the application submission deadline for self-appraisal by students for registration with the board as trainees. As per the latest updates, candidates of DNB broad-speciality courses as well as DrNB super-speciality courses of admission session 2023 will now be allowed to apply till Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Candidates should keep in mind that no further extensions to the online window will be allowed. Candidates who do not complete their self-appraisal within the prescribed time frame will not be registered as NBEMS trainees.

Furthermore, the purpose of this self-appraisal is to ascertain a candidate’s eligibility for NBEMS registration as a trainee after they begin attending one of the NBEMS-accredited institutions that were selected through centralised merit-based counselling. Candidates who successfully enrolled in NBEMS courses starting with the 2023 admission session will have access to this.

Also, the eligibility of candidates for the NBEMS programme is determined using the criteria outlined in the information bulletin for the respective entrance examinations. Candidates are registered as trainees with NBEMS after successfully meeting the criteria and submitting a self-appraisal with the required documents through the training institutions.

A letter to this effect in the form of a “Letter of Provisional Registration” will be made available for download in real-time upon successful completion of the trainee’s self-appraisal by the respective training institution.

“Candidates shall be required to go through the information bulletin for respective entrance examinations qualified for admission to the course before they proceed with the self-appraisal. They shall be further required to go through the detailed guidelines available at the Online Portal for Joining & Registration (OPJR) before they proceed with the self-appraisal at OPJR. It is strongly advised to carefully go through the declaration which they shall be agreeing to after completing the self-appraisal proforma,” an official notice reads.

DNB Courses: Updated Schedule Important Dates

–– Submission of self-appraisal forms by candidates to their training institutions: February 29, 2024 till 11:55 pm.

–– Verification of the self-appraisal forms and documents of the candidates by NBEMS accredited institutes: March 15, 2024, till 11:55 pm.

As per the official website of NBE, candidates who opt for DNB seats in 2-year and 3-year courses need to enrol in DNB training within their respective courses. Meanwhile, the training for post-MBBS professionals admitted through NEET PG is registered for three-year programmes; training for post-diploma DNB professionals admitted through DNB-PDCET is registered for two-year programmes. They are known as Primary DNB trainees and Secondary DNB trainees, respectively, in the traditional sense.
