It is pertinent to note that in the year 2017, the Uttar Pradesh government submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court.

The Allahabad High Court has sought a response from the state government and the Police Recruitment Board regarding the five-year relaxation in the age limit for Police Constable Recruitment 2023. The move comes after hearing advocate Anirudh Pandey, who spoke on the behalf of candidates. Notably, the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board will end the application process for UPPBPB UP Police Constable posts tomorrow whereas the last date for payment of application fees is January 18, 2024.

As the application process for the recruitment of 60244 constables in UP Police started a few days ago, scores of candidates started raising demands for relaxation in the age limit. Claiming that the recruitment is being done after a gap of five years, candidates demanded a relaxation of two to four years of age from the state government. Later, 29 individuals filed a petition for age relaxation.

In 2017, the Uttar Pradesh government submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court. It claimed that 30,000 recruitments would be done every year from the year 2017 to 2020. However, the government did not fulfil its promise as the recruitment has been put on hold for the last five years.

Reportedly, the government announced the relaxation of five years in constable recruitment and sub-inspector recruitment under the sports quota. He said that a relaxation of five years should also be given in the age limit for other candidates looking for recruitment under the position of constable in the UP government.

The application window for UP Police Constable Recruitment commenced on the 27th of December. Eligible candidates are advised to apply online through the official website at uppbpb.gov.in without any further delay to avoid last-minute hassle.
