President Droupadi Murmu Presides Over CUJ Convocation, Awards Chancellor's Medals To Toppers
The President of India, Droupadi Murmu appreciated the eco-friendly campus of Central University of Jharkhand and asked other institutions to draw inspiration from it.

The 15th President of India, Draupadi Murmu, graced the third convocation ceremony of the Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) in Ranchi on February 28. President Murmu awarded the Chancellor’s medal to three students, while 64 students were honoured with gold medals and 29 students received PhD degrees during the event. Among the dignitaries present were Governor CP Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister of Jharkhand Champai Soren, Union Minister Annapurna Devi and CUJ Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kshiti Bhusan Das.

Following the degree distribution, President Murmu emphasised in her address that students are the future of tomorrow. She commended CUJ for its eco-friendly campus and urged other institutions to draw inspiration from it. Highlighting a significant achievement, she noted that 50 per cent of the students awarded degrees were girls, which is encouraging for society. President Murmu also shared a personal anecdote, mentioning her close relationship with her daughter, Itishree Murmu.

In addition to the President, the Governor and the Chief Minister also addressed the students during the ceremony. Chief Minister Champai Soren assured that the land acquisition issues related to the CUJ campus would be resolved soon. He praised the hard work of the degree recipients and extended his best wishes for their future. Furthermore, he announced the adoption of a four-year undergraduate course in all universities across the state.

The three students who received the Chancellor’s Medal from President Murmu—Shubham Bhattacharjee, Utpal and Abhineet Ganguly—expressed their gratitude, describing the moment as the most memorable of their academic lives. Akanksha, a gold medalist, shared her joy and revealed her marital status, expressing anticipation for the happiness her achievement would bring to her family and in-laws.

During the convocation ceremony, the enthusiasm of the students was palpable across the CUJ campus as they received medals and degrees. President Murmu is currently on a four-day visit to Odisha after offering prayers at the Maa Kichakeswari temple on February 28.
