West Bengal's East Bardhaman To Soon Get Its First Government English Medium School
There is no English-medium school in Manteswar Village.

Parents, in today’s world, desire for their child to attend an English-medium school. But many people cannot afford it, even if they would like to. However, there’s no need to worry this time because Manteswar village in the East Bardhaman district, West Bengal will soon have a government English-medium school built. Under a government initiative, the East Bardhaman district will see the construction of its first English-medium school.

According to Bengali News18, President of Panchayat Samiti Ahmed Hussain Sheikh stated that, while the people of the village desire to teach the children of private English medium schools, they are unable to do so for financial reasons. As a result of the government’s initiative, they will now have an English medium school soon. Interested students will be able to take admission from Classes 1 to 12. In addition, a hostel facility will also be provided to those who stay far from the village or district.

To date, Manteswar village has no English-medium schools. Students needed to travel a long distance to attend school in an English medium. Because there were no English medium schools in the village, many children had to travel to Kalna, Memari, Katwa, or Nabadwip towns. However, small children could not travel such a long distance every day to study. So, many of them opted for Bengali-medium schools while others dropped out.

As a result, a government English medium school is being constructed in Kusumgram, Manteswar, and Kalna villages, at a cost of approximately Rs 6.5 crore, Bengali News18 further reports.

Elated over the big news, a head teacher of an educational institution in Kusumgram village, stated that as there is no government English medium school or private school in the district, this new initiative by the government will soon end the shortage. This will also bring hope to children to study further and for others to go back to school, the head teacher added, as per reports.

On the other hand, the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has issued the admit card for the Madhyamik Board (Class 10) exam. The exam is scheduled to start from February 2, 2024. The admit cards were distributed to several schools from the respective camp offices on January 22. Students who are going to appear for the Madhyamik exam this year will be able to collect their admit cards from tomorrow January 24, from their respective schools.

For more details and related updates, students are advised to check the main site of WBBSE.
