English Premier League champions Manchester United boss David Moyes has confirmed that the club has made a second bid for Cesc Fabregas and the executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is dealing with the matter behind the scenes.

United confirmed last Monday that they had made a first offer for the former Arsenal star, and manager David Moyes said at a press conference in Yokohama that a second offer had been lodged after Barca rejected their first approach.

Ed returned to England from United's pre season tour ahead of schedule last Wednesday to carry out some urgent transfer business, and Moyes confirmed, "As I understand it, Ed had a response (to the first offer). We have made a second offer but Ed is dealing with it rather than me."

With Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova forced to step down from his post at the Nou Camp on Friday due to the return of a cancerous tumour, the Spanish champions are now likely to focus solely on resolving the management position and offering their full support to Vilanova and his family before addressing outstanding transfer business.

According to sources in England, Barcelona will only look into the matter after the hiring of the new coach.
