New Delhi: The noise emanating from Manchester United’s United's iconic Old Trafford ground was evident for all to hear as Sir Alex Ferguson's side overturned a 2-0 deficit to visiting Tottenham Hotspur last weekend and went on to win by a 5-2 margin.
Arsenal have only been beaten by Chelsea in 2009 and United's Scottish boss has acknowledged that he may need additional help in order to see off the threat posed by Arsene Wenger's army in Wednesday evening's Champions League semi-final.
Ferguson has therefore called on United's fans to act like a 12th man by creating an intimidating atmosphere to play in, leaving Arsenal to return to London with their tails between their legs.
"It was an amazing transformation when we scored that first goal (against Tottenham)," Ferguson reflected on the club's official website.
"We needed that support from the fans and they’re going to have to play their part again before the end of the season.
"They’re going to have to drive us. We’ve been through a hard, hard season and it’s coming up to that part of the season where we need everyone."
French full-back Patrice Evra, who may line-up against pacey Arsenal winger Theo Walcott in the middle of the week, added,
"The supporters were very important. We came off at half-time 2-0 down and were clapped off the pitch by our fans. That was unbelievable. I hope the fans support us again throughout the match (against Arsenal). We need to make it intimidating for Arsenal and put them under pressure. It’s very difficult for opposition teams to play at Old Trafford when the crowd gets behind us."
