Pune: Mumbai FC will look to get back to winning ways when they host Mohun Bagan in an I-league Round-7 clash at the Balewadi Sports Complex here Saturday.
Having struck a purple patch in their campaign, Mumbai FC (7th, 6 points) faces a Bagan side that sits just two places below them in the standings, with only one point separating them. Keeping their back-to-back setbacks aside, the hosts hope to secure their first home win of the season as Coach Khalid Jamil explains, "We certainly looking at plugging the losses and are working on it."
The visitors come into the game high on confidence after logging their first win of the season defeating high-flying Salgaocar FC 2-1 at home and will be a stronger unit. Mumbai FC, however, will be hoping to make most of the home conditions and will hope to exploit the fact that Bagan's previous visit to Balewadi earlier this month resulted in a 0-2 defeat to Pune FC.
AFC Cup semi-finalists East Bengal host high-flying table toppers Bengaluru FC in a round 7 clash of the Airtel I-League in Kalyani here tomorrow. It will not only be the first-ever meeting between the two clubs but Bengaluru FC would also be playing their maiden away game, having won four of their five home matches to occupy the pole position in the 13-team table with as many points.
East Bengal on the other hand have a fixture backlog to make up in the I-League as they have been making India proud in the continent with their record-breaking run in the AFC Cup. The Kolkata club's amazing journey in the AFC Cup came to an end against defending champions Kuwait SC in the semi-finals after their 3-0 loss in the second leg on Tuesday.
The red-and-gold-brigade have only played twice in the I-League and recorded three points. They lost their last match 3-1 against Dempo and thus would be eager to return to winning ways against debutants Bengaluru FC.
