Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in a mouth-watering contest at Anfield on Sunday with the top spot in the Premier League table up for grabs.
Ahead of the highly anticipated clash, Guardiola was quizzed about the atmosphere at Anfield influencing refereeing decision. The Spanish coach responded stating that they would have to perform better.
“When it happens, we have to perform better. We cannot control what happens in this stadium with referees,” the 53-year-old said.
He added that such influences were commonplace in football and the clash between the heavyweights isn’t the only time the crowd could swing the result of the games.
“It is not the first time, won’t be the last, have to perform better. We have to overcome the situations,” the Spanish tactician continued.
“It’s a big achievement to try to fight for four titles in a row, no club has done it ever. This is the challenge we have to face and give absolutely everything. Otherwise would be difficult to win on Sunday.
Guardiola explained that irrespective of the influence that could possibly spill over at Anfield due to the partisan support, City have to play upto their potential and reminded that there was still some way to go before the season is done and dusted.
“But whatever happens, we should perform well and whatever happens still we have many, many games to play,” the Manchester City boss said.

Klopp, on the other hand, has already announced that he is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season and would want to head out on a high by claiming the PL crown.
