New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in congratulating the Indian women's hockey team for winning the Asian Champions Trophy on Saturday.

"Congrats to our women's hockey team for winning the Asian Champions Trophy 2016. It is a great moment for Indian hockey. @TheHockeyIndia," the Prime Minister wrote on his Twitter handle.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi also congratulated the team for clinching the trophy.
India's earlier best finish in the Women's Asian Champions Trophy came in the last edition in 2013 when it finished runner-up to Japan.
