Oppenheimer stole the spotlight at the Oscars 2024 by winning seven awards including Best Actor, Best Director and Best Picture. The grand reveal of the top honours was announced in a unique way by The Godfather legend, Al Pacino. Ignoring the traditional method, Pacino skipped the nominee announcement and straight away declared Oppenheimer as the Best Picture winner.
Al Pacino’s impromptu moment stole the show as he took the stage for the final presentation at the Oscars. Without adding any suspense, the veteran star declared, “Best Picture, I have to go to the envelope for that and I will. Here it comes. And my eyes see Oppenheimer?” With 13 nominations, the movie took home a total of 7 Oscars. The Cillian Murphy-led film had already won in categories like Best Actor, Supporting Actor, Film Editing, Cinematography, Original, and Director.
Al Pacino not even presenting the rest of the nominations and going straight to the winner is such a hilarious yet Oscar worthy performance in its own right. #theoscars #Oscars #Oscars2024 pic.twitter.com/9XryEMmZkV— Mellabee_ (@mellabee_29) March 11, 2024

Christopher Nolan, director of the three-hour-long epic exploring the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, clinched his first Oscar. During his acceptance speech, Nolan expressed gratitude to his wife and the film’s producer, Emma Thomas, as well as the lead actor, Cillian Murphy. The filmmaker stated, “Thank you for those who have been there for me and believed in me my whole career.” On the other hand, Thomas highlighted Nolan’s key role in shaping the movie. “The reason this movie was the movie it was is Chris Nolan. He is singular. He is brilliant,” she mentioned.
The Oscars stage saw five former winners present all four acting prizes this year. The Best Actor category was announced by Matthew McConaughey, Nicolas Cage and Brendan Fraser, which saw Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy taking the trophy.
Oppenheimer features Cillian Murphy in the role of J Robert Oppenheimer, known as the father of the atomic bomb. The film also features talented actors like Florence Pugh, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Alden Ehrenreich, Robert Downey Jr, Jason Clarke, Kenneth Branagh, and Josh Hartnett.
