Robert Downey Jr has been dominating headlines after winning his first Oscar in 2024 for his role in Oppenheimer. He won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role as Admiral Lewis Strauss in the Christopher Nolan film. During his acceptance speech following the historic victory, the actor mentioned his wife, Susan, and thanked her for playing an important role in restoring his career. However, post-event, the actor stated that he would not be satisfied after his first win and would strive to be felicitated again in the future.
Speaking to People after the Academy Awards, Robert Downey Jr said “I got a couple other tricks up my sleeve.” The actor has a few interesting projects lined up. His wife Susan, who is also his production partner, stated, “We’re just getting started.” She added that they are talking about it all the time and “There’s so many more things we want to do together and achieve together and play together, create together.” The actor further mentioned that he believed that, “In our own way we have mountains yet to climb.”
Robert Downey Jr, will star in HBO’s upcoming series The Sympathiser, based on Viet Thanh Nguyen’s best-selling novel from 2015. The miniseries is slated to premiere on April 14 and is produced by Team Downey.
Meanwhile, after the main Oscars event, Robert Downey Jr was seen in a happy mood as he posed with his wife and interacted with the photographers on the Vanity Fair Oscars carpet. At the special event, the couple demonstrated their endearing chemistry and grabbed attention as they held hands and smiled while posing for photographers. Robert sported a stylish black suit and matching trousers, accented with a professional white shirt. Susan, on the other hand, looked stunning in her all-black gown.

This was not Robert Downey Jr’s first Oscar nomination. He was previously nominated for an Oscar in 1993 for his depiction of Charlie Chaplin in Chaplin and in 2009 for Tropic Thunder. In addition to Robert’s victory, Cillian Murphy received Best Actor for Oppenheimer. The crew behind Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer had a good night, with the filmmaker winning Best Director and the film taking home the coveted Best Picture prize.
