- You can now create Instagram Story videos that are 60 seconds long.
- To share an even longer video, you can upload a Reel and share it to your Story, or create multiple Story posts.
- Swipe left to open the Story camera and begin recording your 60-second Story.
Open Instagram. Tap the app icon with a gradient pink-to-orange background behind a camera lens. In this process, you'll learn how to take a video to share to your Story. You can record up to 60 seconds of video, but if you upload a longer video to a Story, you'll be prompted to clip it. You can, however, upload it as a Reel and then share it to your Story.
Swipe right to open the Story camera. Drag your finger left to right on the Instagram Home screen to open the Story camera. Alternatively, tap the + icon at the bottom of your screen and move the menu dial to "Story." You can also tap your profile picture in the top left corner of your screen.
Upload or record a video. Press and hold the circular button on your screen to record a video, then lift your finger off the screen to stop recording. If you already have a video recorded, tap the thumbnail picture on the far left of your screen and select a video. You can only record up to 60 seconds at a time. Have a longer video than that? Upload it as a Reel or create multiple Stories.
Share your Story. Tap Your Stories at the bottom of your screen to share the video to your Stories. Alternatively, tap the icons along the top of your screen to add music, text, images, stickers, and effects.
