Get decent armor. Make sure you have Crimson/Shadow Armor or Molten Armor to give you the best current defense, or jungle/Necro/Bee Armor if you are into mage/ranger/summoner build, Meteor Armor makes you able to use Space Gun without any mana costs.
Get decent weapons. Get the Night's Edge or Flamarang to fend off the Hungrys. Get the Minishark or The Bee's Knees for a range fight so you can dodge more easily. For magic users, you can get Demon Scythe, Water Bolt or space gun. Beenades is a no-brainer weapon against the World of Flesh which kills it in a matter of seconds.
Get beneficial potions. Get at least 5 Health Potion(Or Honeyfin if you do fish in the honey), Obsidian Skin Potion so that you're immune to lava, whole stack of mana potions for mage and any other potions possible that boost your stats(Ironskin Potion, Swiftness Potion, food, ale etc).
Build a Hellevator(hell Elevator) if you haven't yet. Dig down and put some ropes up and down the hole so you can go down and up easily.
Make a bridge all the way across the underworld. Building a bridge is recommended since you'll have a better chance of not taking damage in lava
Find a Voodoo demon. The Voodoo Demon drops the Guide Voodoo Doll which summons the Wall of Flesh.
Get the guide voodoo doll and throw it in the lava, or tap it if you're on Mobile to summon the Wall of Flesh. Before you do this, drink some potions that gives you buffs like the Ironskin Potion for some extra defense and Obsidian Skin potion if there are some lava pools around.
Drink potions at the start of the fight, so you can be stronger and defeat the Wall of Flesh.
Make sure to hit the eyes and mouth, if you hit any other part, it will take no damage. Don't get to close you could take damage.
Get the loot at where the Wall of Flesh is defeated, they are stored in a square. Note that your world is now in hard-mode, which contains harder enemies and fancier items.
Head back to your home via Magic Mirror or Hellevator.
