- You can get Flapple and Appletun in Gen 8 and 9, but Dipplin is only available in Gen 9.
- To get Dipplin, you'll need the Teal Mask DLC for Scarlet and Violet.
- Flapple can only be obtained in Sword, and Appletun can only be obtained in Shield.
How to Evolve Applin
Applin can evolve into Flapple, Appletun, or Dipplin. You can choose which form you evolve your Applin into based on what evolutionary item you give it: Tart Apple: Evolves Applin to Flapple Sweet Apple: Evolves Applin to Appletun Syrupy Apple: Evolves Applin to Dipplin
Once you have an apple, use it from your bag on your Applin. The Applin will automatically evolve into a Flapple, Appletun, or Dipplin. Much like an evolutionary stone, these apples are one-time-use items, and there's no level requirement to use them on your Applin.
Where to Find Apples
Each apple is obtained in a different version of the game. You can only get Tart Apples in Pokémon Sword and Sweet Apples in Pokémon Shield. These apples are available in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, but Syrupy Apples can only be purchased if you have the Teal Mask DLC. You can trade these apples to your friends in other game versions by attaching them to a Pokémon as a held item, and then trading the Pokémon to your friend. This is a great alternative to evolving the Applin yourself, as it allows your friend to choose their own Applin to evolve.
Tart Apples evolve Applin to Flapple. You can find Tart Apples in the following locations: Sword: Hammerlocke, Axew's Eye (hidden recurring item) Scarlet and Violet: Delibird Presents (after getting 3 gym badges), Tagtree Thicket (sparkling overworld item), Apple Hills (sparkling overworld item in the Teal Mask)
Sweet Apples evolve Applin to Appletun. You can find Sweet Apples in the following locations: Shield: Hammerlocke, Axew's Eye (hidden recurring item) Scarlet and Violet: Delibird Presents (after getting 3 gym badges), Tagtree Thicket (sparkling overworld item), Apple Hills (sparkling overworld item in the Teal Mask)
Syrupy Apples evolve Applin to Dipplin. You can't evolve an Applin in Sword or Shield to Dipplin, as this is a new Pokémon introduced in Generation 9. Scarlet and Violet: Purchased from the food stand in Mossfell Confluence
How to Catch Applin
Applin is a relatively easy Pokémon to find. You can catch Applin in Sword, Shield, Scarlet, Violet, and in some DLC areas. If you want all three forms of Applin, you'll need to obtain a total of three Applins.
