Prepping Your Supplies
Break your chocolate into small pieces. Leave the chocolate bar in its wrapper. Tap the bar on the edge of a table several times. When you open the wrapper, the chocolate should be neatly broken into pieces.
Sterilize your mason jars. Wash the lids of your jars in hot, soapy water. Then, fill a pot with water and submerge the jars themselves. Boil the jars for 10 minutes. Remove the jars from the water with tongs when you're ready to use them. The amount of jars you need depends on the size of the jars. With very big jars, you may only need two or three jars, while you may need three or four small jars.
Place the chocolate in the bottom of the jar. Divide your broken chocolate evenly between the mason jars. Place the chunks of chocolate just on the bottom of each jar.
Mixing Your Vodka
Pour in the vodka. Once the chocolate is on the bottom of the jars, pour the vodka in the jars. Fill the jars just below the brim with vodka.
Seal the lid tightly. Twist the lid on each jar as tightly as you can. This ensures the jar will stay sealed when you shake it.
Shake the jar. Once your jars are sealed, shake each jar a few times. This will help the chocolate begin to dissolve. Give the jar between three and four good shakes. This should be enough to start the process.
Let the vodka sit for a week. Place the vodka in a safe place in your kitchen where it will not be disturbed. Let it sit for about a week or until the chocolate is mostly dissolved. There should only be tiny chunks at the bottom of the bottle after a week.
Straining and Serving Your Vodka
Strain out the chocolate chunks. Place a strainer over another mason jar or a bowl. Pour your vodka through the strainer to get out any lingering chocolate chunks.
Store your vodka in the freezer. Vodka should be stored in the freezer when you're not using it. While vodka may lose flavor with time, it should last indefinitely.
Serve the vodka chilled. Place your vodka in the freezer after chilling it. When it's time to serve the vodka, serve it to guests chilled. Vodka is best served after being frozen for at least an hour.
