Akbaruddin Owaisi, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader and party chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s brother was booked for threatening a police official for violation of the Model Code of Conduct imposed in view of the Assembly Election in Telangana to be held on November 30.

In the video shared by BJP’s Telangana unit, Owaisi can be seen charging at the police official, who was apparently asking him to wrap up his rally, to leave the spot. He asks him to leave adding that he wasn’t afraid of anyone.

“Inspector Sahab, I have a watch. Please go from here,” Akbaruddin Owaisi said amid loud cheers from the crowd as he moved from the podium to the side of the stage, asking the police to move out of the rally

Akbaruddin Owaisi also claims that nobody could stop him from speaking and asserted if he gave a “signal” to the crowd, they would “run” the police officer away.

Owaisi is contesting Telangana Assembly Elections from his stronghold, Chandrayangutta, which he has been representing since 1999.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered against (AIMIM leader) Akbaruddin Owaisi under section 353 (obstructing official duties) IPC and other relevant sections, ANI reported quoting Rohit Raju, DCP South East zone.

Reacting to the incident, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi defended his brother and said that the Election Commission to launch an inquiry into why his brother was stopped from speaking at the rally 5 minutes before the defined time.

“Permission was granted till 10 pm. But five minutes before the permitted time, you (police) climbed on the stage and asked to stop the meeting. We demand the EC to enquire into the incident as to why he (Akbaruddin Owaisi) was asked to stop his rally,” India Today quoted AIMIM Chief as saying.

Akbaruddin Owaisi Reacts

AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi said that he had valid permission to hold the rally adding that DCP was lying. The leader said he filed a complaint against the police.

“DCP is lying. I have video evidence. I had valid permission and have sent the footage of the incident to the Election Commission of India,” Owaisi said.
