After a laddu that weighs 1,265 kg and silver padukas, Hyderabad is ready with another offering in honour of the grand pran pratishtha (consecration) ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
A car modelled on the Ram temple will be unveiled in Numaish (Nampally Exhibition) on Saturday. It has been conceptualised and built by the maverick engineer K Sudhakar. The founder of Sudha Cars Museum located at Bahadurpura is known for building quirky yet functional cars which are unique in design.
Besides this, another interesting aspect of this project is that the team included 10 Muslim men, headed by Ahmed Ali.
Sudhakar says he was inspired by the nationwide anticipation for the temple, which he sensed two years ago. He procured a model of the temple and scaled it 20 times to achieve this feat.
Speaking with News18, Sudhakar said, “The Ram Janmabhoomi-shaped car is 22 feet in length, 13 feet in width, and 26 feet in height. It took two years to build this car.” The chassis used for the vehicle is that of a Matador 307.
Giving more details, Sudhakar said: “The car can go at 60 kmph. It is made with metal square pipes covered with a fibreglass body. It has a single seat.”
The car has an in-built generator to light it up. Besides this, it also has a public address system to play devotional songs.
Sudhakar’s initial idea was to finish building the car last October and drive it to Ayodhya. However, things didn’t go as planned, and he felt that though everyone can’t go to Ayodhya, he will take Ayodhya to everyone.
The car, which also has idols of Ram, Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman, will be on display in Numaish, an event that sees thousands of visitors every day.
