BERHAMPUR: As many as 10 persons were acquitted of arson charges by a fast track court in Phulbani on Wednesday for lack of evidence. In 2008, Jaleswar Diggal of Breaka village had lodged a complaint in the Baliguda police station against 10 persons that they had set fire to his house during the riots which ensued in the aftermath of killing of seer Lakshmanananda Saraswati.Hearing the case, Judge Birinchinarayan Mishra acquitted the 10 persons for lack of evidence.ACTO Sent to JailBramhananda Bhanjadeo, an assistant commercial tax officer, posted at the Girisola check gate on Odisha-Andhra border, was arrested by Vigilance sleuths for illegal collection of tax. He was produced in court which remanded him in judicial custody after rejecting his bail petition.The Vigilance team had raided his rented house at Sorolo on Wednesday. He is a native of Kharvel Nagar in Bhubaneswar.
